Phil Hotsenpiller: Pastor. Teacher. Author. Producer. Entrepreneur. Advocate. Coach.
Now the President and founder of {l.a.}godMusic. The up-and-coming, Hollywood-based
record label has recently produced a worship album incorporating pop/rock musicians,
singers and songwriters from the heart of Los Angeles, with a heart for God. With the
release of {l.a.}godMusic’s first album, it marks a watershed moment in the Christian music
landscape: never before has there been a collective effort of this scale to produce Christ-
centered music for His kingdom.
To fully understand the {l.a.}god project, you have to know its roots. Phil and his wife,
Tammy, also founded Influence. Influence identifies and disciples talented entertainment
industry leaders and professionals who possess the power to influence pop-culture for
Christ. The initial focus of Influence was, and still is, the {l.a.}god project. When Phil and
Tammy looked around Hollywood, they saw a yearning amongst its Christian talent to be
able to stand strong in the face of an industry that does little to promote and nourish a
Christ-centered discipleship. {l.a.}god supports young Hollywood artists, directors, models
and professionals, who want to serve Jesus Christ, by hosting events, mentoring, and prayer. Since its first event on 10.10.10 at the W Hotel, the demand and support for {l.a.}god has been overwhelmingly apparent by its growth—every room it books for meetings quickly
becomes inadequate to fit the entire group as it gains more and more guests from the
entertainment industry.
Through its multilayered approach to ministry and under Phil & Tammy’s leadership, {l.a.}god can capture, cultivate, and activate these talented Hollywood leaders to impact the
myriad facets of entertainment: fashion, film and TV, music, art—even reaching out to the
fan-bases they steward. {l.a.}god members can be found in all of these different parts of the
entertainment industry and all of them seek one common goal: to glorify Jesus Christ, and
see His kingdom established in popular culture. Influence is pleased to see the movement that has emerged through {l.a.}god and aims to reproduce and grow these movements in other culturally influential strongholds of our world.
The {l.a.}god project represents the viral outgrowth of the creativity that is found among
the hundreds of people who connect to {l.a.}god for fellowship with other Christians. The
latest expression of this creative mindset is the {l.a.}godMusic label and album. The heavily
anticipated album is being tracked at Revolution 9 in Hollywood; mixed by Sam Gibson of
Leeds, England (Jesus Culture and Hillsong) and Stephen Marcussen of Los Angeles Paul
McCartney and Rolling Stones); and features Jon Ketchum, Kellen (guitar, vocals) and Karla
Mills (vocals), Dan Lutz (bass), Brian Lemus (keyboard), Chris Wrate (guitar), and John
Watson (drums). |
